Ratchadamnern WBC battle

3 Aug 2008

The 31st of July saw two special fights at Ratchadamnern stadium with WBC Muaythai World titles up for grabs.

The first fight was a battle of Experience vs Youth, between Khaiasit Chuwattana, a veteran of the Bangkok fight circuit and Daosaming Ingram gym a young fighter who has been steadily climbing up the rankings. This fight also saw Khaiasit offer up his Ratchadamnern Bantamweight title along with the vacant WBC Muaythai Bantamweight belt.

Daosaming looked like he had got himself I top shape for the fight and took the action to Khaiyasit from the start. It soon became apparent though that it was a big jump up in class for him though as Khaiasit picked him off with sharp counter shots and soaked up all of his attacks. Khaiasit cruised through the fight, with Daosaming needing a knockout in the final round to win, but Khaiasit's experience was too much to overcome and Khaiasit was crowned WBC Muaythai Bantamweight world champion.

The shows main event was a potential thriller between the hard hitting, Muaythai superstar Anuwat Kaewsamrit and the young rising star Jomthong Chuwattana. The WBC Muaythai Featherweight world title, held by Anuwat was at stake. The first few rounds saw Jomthong look to stamp his authority on the fight as he opened up with solid left kicks and knees and some sharp punches. Anuwat came on strong in the 4th as he started to work his dangerous punches, but got shaken up by a salvo of solid left punches from Jomthong. Jomthong moved into the final round comfortably in front, but Anuwat showed he was still dangerous, with some more solid punches that bloodied the nose of Jomthong. Jomthong gritted his teeth though and fired back with more hard knees and some more solid kicks and took the fight on a points decision, adding the WBC World title to his already impressive collection of titles.
