WBC Boxing President Dr Jose Sulaiman says Muay Thai is heading for recognition as one of the worlds most admired martial art ring sports following an exciting exhibition of fighting skills by Thailand's superstar Sugar Keo Fairtex who KOd Korean Bin In Wok to win the the WBC Super Featherweight Muay Thai World Title at Cancun in Mexico.

A polished performance by Keo saw the top rated Korean Muay Thai star, who has lost only 6 of 41 contests, outclassed in the scheduled five round championship in front of a crowd of 5,000 boxing fans who packed the resort city's main city stadium which stages weekly bull fights.

*On the world stage Muay Thai is just starting to get in the mainstream with the WBC now sanctioning world titles. The traditional boxing fans are just starting to appreciate the skills and excitements of Muay Thai*

The WBC President said he was delighted with the feedback from the TV adience who viewed the contest live through the Americas including USA.

"The early indication is that the viewers liked what they saw. It was a good start for WBC in this part of the world."

The fans had gathered in the Caribbean Cancun beach resort city to see their local boxing hero Jorge Arce win a world title contest and later cheered loudly when Keo ended the Muay Thai championship contest in the fourth round with a powerful attack of punches and elbow strikes.

Keo admitted he was a little nervous about fighting in front on a packed stadium of fantastical Mexican boxing fans.

But after the first round the crowd roared their approval for the head high kicks exhibited by the Thai champion who has fought 141 times for 107 wins - 30 by KO.

*For sure winning the world title is the highlight of my career. I have championship contest in front a thousands of excited fans at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, but the cheering Mexican fans in the bull ring stadium was a huge event and something that I will always remember*.
