VYING TO BE THE SUPER-BANTAMWEIGHT QUEEN OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA

10 Jun 2019

The promoters of the upcoming Road to MuayThai Grand Prix Event, which will be held in Perth, have put together a fine matchup for the vacant WBC MuayThai female super-bantamweight Western Australia State title.

Nicola McKay will clash with Kerrianne Callander in what will be a battle of two ladies fighting out of two of the strongest fight gyms in Perth: Nicola is based out of Riddlers Gym, and Kerrianne via way of the Thai Boxing Pit.

Moreover, both protagonists are no strangers to one another, having already met in the centre of the ring on three occasions, with Nicola winning their most recent bout — via a split points decision.

Kerrianne will be looking to avenge that loss and take home the spoils that will be on offer: a coveted and prestigious World Boxing Council MuayThai State championship belt.

Styles make fights:

Kerrianne has a true traditional PIT gym, walk forward style, with the warrior mindset of never taking a backward step, and loves to utilise her knees and elbows — to devastating effect!

Nicola utilises her hands very well and uses the left kick with accuracy. Nicola also has a good strong clinch game and likes to catch and sweep along with keeping a high pace and pressure. Nicola’s favourite fighter is Iman PK Barlow.

On behalf of the entire team at the WBC, we wish both fighters the best of luck for their upcoming encounter.
