HIROYA CROWNED CHAMPION IN A DOMINANT PERFORMANCE

30 Sep 2018

Sunday, September 23rd: It was a night of victorious national glory for Hiroya Haga as he claimed the WBC MuayThai Japanese super-bantamweight title.

Haga claimed victory over his compatriot David Chibana — the contest took place last night at the famed Korakuen hall in Tokyo, Japan.

The southpaw Haga, took the unanimous points victory and the coveted WBC national title behind a solid performance of utilizing all eight limbs on his way to victory.

The first round started off with Chibana being the aggressor but at times was stopped in his tracks by clean effective left kicks from Haga.

The second round used his long reach to set up more effective output behind those kicks with Chibana looking for success from his low kicks.

As the fight entered the third round Chibana stuck to his game plan of executing punches and low kicks but it was Haga’s clinch work and clinical elbows which saw him seal the round.

The penultimate round once again saw Haga use his range with some lovely knee strikes to set his tone of dominance — whilst Chibana looked to stifle his opponent's momentum with some crisp body shots.

The fifth and final round saw Chibana search for come-from-behind victory but it was be Haga’s night as he sealed his much wanted victory. All three judges scored the contest 50-47 to the new champion, Hiroya Haga.

On behalf of WBC MuayThai Chairman Pol. General Kovid Bhakdibhumi, and the entire team at the WBC we would like to congratulate Haga on his victory.
