THE PURSUIT OF GREEN GLORY IN HONG KONG

10 Sep 2018

Monday, September 10th: The objective of the WBC MuayThai has always been to put coveted world championship belts around the waists of those who deserve a shot at earning a prestigious green belt and we now move to the magical city of Hong Kong for world title contest number fourteen of 2018 for the vacant welterweight world title.

The Protagonists:

"Whether you think you can, or you think you can't – you're right." "There is simply no substitute for hard work when it comes to achieving success." "Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do." This adage rings true for Thailand’s Manachai YokkaoSaenchai gym as he looks forward to facing off against rising Brazilian star Julio Lobo for the vacant WBC MuayThai welterweight world title.

The young man who served his MuayThai apprenticeship at the famed Kiatmoo9 gym, has since moved onto pastures new under the guidance of the YokkaoSaenchai gym in Bangkok — he personifies what perseverance and doing what you love mean most to anyone dedicated to their art — Manachai’s art is using eight limbs to inflict damage within a squared circle.

His time to shine is now as the 22-year old Buriram native goes in search of his first major accolade in the sport of MuayThai. This year he has beaten former Lumpinee and Channel7 stadium welterweight champion, Pongsiri PK Saenchai and most recently defeated Spanish fighter Nauzet Trujillo on the AllStarFight promotion in Prague.

Julio Lobo is a 24-year old rising star in the sport of MuayThai who has amassed 48 professional fights in a short space of time since basing himself full-time in the Kingdom of Thailand, more specifically at Phuket Fight Club down on the idyllic island of Phuket.

Earlier this year Lobo became only the second ever foreigner to win the Toyota Marathon 8-man tournament. He defeated Thailand’s Kundiao in the final after defeating international opponents in the quarter and semifinals.

Lobo has also shared the ring with MuayThai superstars Saenchai, Pakorn and international star Victor Pinto and most recently made his debut on Glory Kickboxing in China and this past weekend in Bangkok he scored a sensational TKO victory over former Rajadamnern stadium top ten ranked fighter, Peakmai.

Currently Manachai is ranked number 4 and Julio Lobo number 9 in the WBC welterweight world rankings. This contest will take place in Hong Kong on Monday the 29th of October on the joint Yokkao and EWD promotion.

On behalf of WBC MuayThai Chairman Pol. General Kovid Bhakdibhumi, WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman, and the entire team at the WBC we wish both fighters the best of luck for their upcoming encounter.
