PERSUING MUAYTHAI GLORY IN AUSTRALIA

31 Jul 2018

Destiny MuayThai, one of Australia’s AU leading MuayThai promotions have amassed a fantastic lineup for their next event, which takes place on Saturday the 27th of October in Brisbane.

The showpiece encounter features a war of continents as British GB fighter Dan Edwards pits his upper echelons MuayThai skills against Australia’s Ben Johnston, for the interim WBC light-heavyweight world championship title.

Johnston (23-2-0) is currently ranked #1 and Edwards (41-9-0) is ranked #2 in the light-heavyweight world rankings — this will be a big test for the Englishman going up against a man who is ranked number one for good reasons.

The prelude to the main event sess one of Australia’s rising stars in the sport of MuayThai, David Pemminpede (27-5-7) — trained under the expert tutelage of Danny Jones — square off against Bryce McGuire (17-4-0) for the vacant WBC MuayThai Oceania light-heavyweight championship title.

Another scintillating matchup for the event sees the first ever female Oceania title being contested for, as Sammy Brown (24-5-0) faces off against Rebecca Rooney (18-5-0) for the vacant WBC Oceania featherweight championship title.

On behalf of Pol. Gen. Kovid Bhakdibhumi and all the team at the WBC we wish all these elite combatants the best of luck for their upcoming championship contests.

A special thanks also to our Australian WBC representative, Mr. Brad Vocale, for his continued hard work and diligence in helping promote WBC activities in Australia and finally to Chris Johnstone and his team at Destiny promotions for hosting coveted WBC titles.
