Buakaw heads event in Chiang Rai for Thai peace, happiness and unity
Chiang Rai Governor Pongsak Wungsamuer has praised Muaythai boxer Buakaw Banchamek who has became famous in Thailand and known internationally as a great combat fighter.
Speaking at a press conference at the Governor?s house in Chang Rai, Mr Pongsak said Buakaw was a Thai national Muaythai hero whose reputation had spread worldwide.
The provincial Chiang Rai Governor said the special Muaythai Diamond Event on 15 August featuring Thais and foreign fighters would be a confidence lift for tourism in Chiang Rai and promote peace, happiness and Thai unity.
Free admission would be offered to the special event that will feature Buakaw fighting full five rounds under WBC Muaythai rules.
The organizers of the event took Buakaw and other boxers to the famous internationally known Wat Rongkhun designed and built by Mr. Chalermchai Kositpipat, which was damaged by a strong earthquake on May 5. The boxers met with earthquake victims.
