BANGKOK READY FOR WBC CONVENTION

The World Boxing Council convention to be held at the luxury Centara Grand Hotel, Bangkok (3-9 November) will be the first in Thailand since the formation of the WBC MUAYTHAI.

Since setting up a separate division for the WBC, professional Muay Thai has bloomed on the world stage under the rules, regulations and safety standards of the WBC.

As with international boxing WBC MUAYTHAI has 19 weight divisions for world and international championships, as well as national championships in representative countries.

Having the WBC convention in Bangkok will enable Muay Thai ring officials to attend a special seminar for referees and judges certification.

There will also be lectures on Muay Thai topics including:

? Evolution of Muay Thai
? Future outlook for Muaythai
? Anti-doping and safety standards
? Muay Thai 10 point scoring system


Current and former boxing and Muay Thai champions will be present for this historic convention presided over by WBC President Dr Jose Sulaiman.

The host WBC federation is the Asian Boxing Council headed by WBC Vice President Pol. General Kovid Bhakdibhumi.

Thailand was unanimously voted as the convention destination for 2013 with delegates expressing their keen interest to come Bangkok The City of Angels and home of Muay Thai, the national sport of Thailand.

The six star luxury Centara Grand Hotel is offering a special discounted rate for all delegates and associates attending the convention.

Other budget hotels are offering specials, but premium hotel rooms will be limited as the Thailand?s tourism high seasons begins in November after the monsoon rains.

Delegates are urged to book their rooms early to avoid disappointment.

Plans are progressing for a world boxing championship during the convention, which will discuss the boxing agenda for the year ahead and beyond.

Pol. General Kovid said all delegates attending the convention could expect a very warmr warm reception form the Thai people.
