The World Boxing Council will hold its 2013 convention in Thailand at the Centara Grand Hotel, Bangkok, from 3-9 November.

This will be the first WBC convention to be held in Thailand since the formation of the WBC MUAYTHAI.

Thailand was unanimously voted as the convention destination and with delegates keen to come to the Muay Thai capital of the world.

WBC Vice-President Pol General Kovid said the people of Thailand were proud of their boxing Muay Thai and boxing heritage and champions past and present would be present to meet and greet up to 1000 delegates who would represent the 164 countries where the WBC has representatives.

The WBC Asian Boxing Council based in Bangkok represents boxers and event organizers in the greater Asia region that includes all of Southeast Asia, China. Australasia and the central Asia states of the former Soviet Union.

Since setting up a separate division for the WBC MUAYTHAI the national sport of Thailand as been able to flourish as a professional combat sport with 19 weight divisions for world and international championships, as well as national championships in all representative countries.

Having the WBC convention in Bangkok will enable ring officials to attend a special seminar for referees and judges certifications , as well as an opportunity to view the top Thai boxers live in contests at the elite Bangkok stadiums.
