Battle blaze as Yamato strikes his British challenger

A stunning final round knock down resulted in Japan's Tetsuya Yamato winning the WBC MUAYTHAI International Super Lightweight Championship at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo on 22 September.

British challenger Paul Karpowicz used a wide arsenal of weapons and quality technique to stay competitive but the final round hook shot by Yamato that sent his opponent to the canvas proved to be the winning move.

The judges ruled Yamato the unanimous points winner 48-47, 49-48 and 50-48.
