Bernard Hopkins into Guiness Book of Records

The World Boxing Council presented the year's awards at its 49th annual convention held in the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mike Tyson received two awards for becoming 25 years ago the youngest Heavyweight World Champion in boxing history, which included 19 knockouts in the first round.

Mariana Juarez was named WBC Female Boxer of the Year while the bout of Jackie Nava against Ana Maria Torres was named the year's best.

The WBC Harry Gibbs Award for the best judges of the year went to Anek Hongtonkam (Thailand) and Jerry Roth (USA).

Judge Hongtonkam has been a WBC ring official for 25 years and the award recognizes his outstanding achievement in officiating at 91 WBC events.

Massimo Barrovechio (Italy) was awarded the year's best WBC referee.

American Bernard Hopkins received a certificate from the Guinness Book of Records for being the oldest world champion in professional boxing history.
