Suriyan honours the King of Thailand

WBC world super flyweight champion Suriyan Sor Rungvisa displayed an arsenal of boxing skills cruising to victory in a title defence against Japan's Nabuo Nashiro in Bangkok on 4 November. Nine titles including five WBC MUAYTHAI world championships were all staged on the same historic event in honour of the King of Thailand Rama 1X.

The gallant Nashiro went the full 12 rounds but only able to to score a few effective shots against a focused opponent who showed exception speed and a rapid-fire left hand jab to score potently for 10 of the 12 championship rounds.

Nashiro tried to lure Suriyan into close quarters but the Thai champ stayed back and punched from long range to build an unassailable lead.

Suriyan (22) now has a 20-4 win record with 7 KOs beating Nobua (30) who has fought in 8 world titles.

Some 19 world champions have been recognized by the WBC, of whom only three have regained the title: Rafael Orono (Venezuela), Gilberto Roman (Mexico), Masamori Tokuyama (Japan), Vic Darchinyan (Australia), Tomas Rojas (Mexico).
