Julie Kitchen wins WBC world welterweight title

British superstar Julie Kitchen won the WBC Female Welterweight World Title with a TKO decision in the third round against Thailand's contender Nam Pimnipa (Nong-Naem) at the Fairtex Stadium in Pattaya on 7 April.

The first two rounds were even as the taller British boxer struggled to control the aggressive punching and tight grappling up close.

But in the third round Kitchen used elbow weapons in the grappling and stunned with her Thai opponent with her weapons shots .

The referee called a knockdown after a the first elbow offence by Kitchen and then stopped the fight at the first minute of the third round after a successive elbow attack that stunned Nam Pimnipa.

Julie Kitchen (34) impressive record stands at 42 wins and 8 loses. She said her WBC world title victory was he greatest achievement.

Both fighters had no trouble making the required maximum weight of 66.6 kg or 147 pounds
