David D?Aversa won the first WBC MUAYTHAI Victoria State Championship in Melbourne on 27 August viewed by the State Sports Minister The Hon. James Merino.

Mr Merino praised the WBC and Victorian promoter Shihan George Kolovos for staging a WBC Asian Boxing championship and a State WBC Muaythai championship on the same card.

?The crowd was able see a professional boxing alongside the fighting art of Muaythai. It was an impressive performance by the participants of both disciplines,? he said.

D?Aversa won the full rules contest in the Muaythai Light Weight Championship against Ray Irwan in a close decision that had the packed venue excited from the outset.

Kovolos plans to stage more Victorian Muaythai titles with the winners challenging for the Australian National titles.

WBC MUAYTHAI has featured National and International titles in Western Australia and the World Super Cruiserweight Champion Steve McKinnon will defend his title against a Brazilian challenger in Sydney on 6 November.
