American superstar stand-up fighter sensation Miriam Nakamoto is the first American female to win a WBC MUAYTHAI World Title.

Nakamoto scored a stunning first round TKO victory over Claire Haigh (Luxembourg) to take out the Lightweight Championship that was part of In Sync Productions and Dragon Boxing event held in Haikou, Hainan Island, China.

China hosted the full rules WBC MUAYTHAI championship event on August 21 in celebration of 20th anniversary of Muaythai promoter Dennis Warner.

Fighters from China, Mexico, United States, Japan, Australia, Luxembourg and Thailand showcased their skills in this government-sanctioned and supported event in China?s preeminent resort destination, Hainan Island. The 5000 people-seat was sold-out.

The championship card featured two WBC MUATHAI World Championship Title Bouts:

WBC MUAYTHAI Lightweight World Title Fight between Hiromasa Masuda (Japan) and Jaroenchai Ood-donmuang (Thailand), and WBC MUAYTHAI Female Lightweight World Title fight between Claire Haigh (Luxembourg) and Miriam Nakamoto (USA). As well, reigning WBC Light Heavyweight World champion, Kaoklai Kaennorsing fought in a Muaythai contest against Manu Ntoh.

Miriam Nakamoto eclipsed Claire Haigh via TKO with a flying left knee and three sequential right elbows strikes.

The championships event was broadcast live on HD TV in China.

WBC?s Anek Hongtongkam headed the list of ring officials.
