Finland?s Lotta Loikanen out scored British champion Denise Mellor to win the WBC MUAYTHAI Female Flyweight World Title at Bournemouth, England, on 25 July.

Trained by Pertti Nurmi in the Chitalada Gym (Finland), Loikanen controlled the contest with five rounds of aggression that had the British star under intense pressure from the opening bell.

Loikanen proved an unstopped opponent being able to sustain every round with repetitious punches and was able to match the experienced Mellor at close quarters in the grappling contests.

?I trained hard for this championship and came prepared,? said Loikanen.

Mellor, a local hero of the Bournemouth Sukothai Muaythai Gym, said she was unable to find a counter strategy to stop her opponent. ?She kept coming and I just wasn?t sufficiently prepared for this style of attack.?
