1 Nov 2008

WBC President Dr Jose Sulaiman visited the earthquake damage caused by the recent Earthquake in south-west China, ahead of the WBC convention being held in Chengdu.

Dr Sulaiman told reporters that he was impressed with the near full restoration of the area hit by the earthquake, which shook and destroyed many buildings.

"I have the greatest respect for the Chinese people who have always shown great fighting spirit during difficult times. They get back up from the canvass and don't stay down for long," Dr Sulaiman told reporters at the World Heritage Dujiangyan where the world's earliest flood and irrigational system was built in 256 B.C and still distributes waters of the Minjiang River to the fertile farmland of the Chengdu Plain.
