28 Oct 2008

WBC president Jose Sulaiman is set to present His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn with a special WBC award at Sukhothai Palace this afternoon.

Sulaiman will attend the palace with Asian Boxing Council president Pol Gen Kovid Bhakdibhumi, who is also a WBC vice-president, and ABCO secretary general Patrick Cusick.

Sulaiman said he wants to present the award in recognition of the hard work His Royal Highness has done to help promote boxing in Thailand.

The WBC president regards Thailand as one of the important countries in the world for the sport.

This evening Sulaiman will attend a dinner at the Grand Mecure Fortune hotel which will honour past and present boxing and Muay Thai champions.

Sulaiman arrived in Thailand at the weekend and said he was looking forward to presenting Veeraphol Nakornluang with a special award at the WBC convention in China next month.

Sulaiman described the former WBC bantamweight champion as one of the best boxers he had ever seen, when he was at his peak.
